2015 27 Sept – Huntington Beach Dog Surfing Contest

Mixed Emotions Event and thankfully the waves were mostly gentle Waikiki Style

Stayed only 30 minutes and caught the large to medium size dog surfers session.  It was obvious, a sizable compentent support team surrounded the dog-surfers in the water.  One care taker at the tail of the board, another one along side, and one at the nose of board.  The support team and  a crew of junior life guards were also in the water or close by on shore ready to respond.

Some pawed competitors seem to be relaxed and savored the warm water cool surf session, while others enjoyed the comfort of the sea shore.  The ocean temperature is a cozy 70 to 74 degrees.

Knowing how my brave and fearless puppy would react to a similar surf, I know these doggies aren’t at their happiest. And though I know the owners are ecstatic with pleasure, the looks on these dog’s faces says it all.

But it’s all in the name of fun and there’s nothing wrong with that long as everyone’s safe and goes home exhausted with a happy grin.

Nice shots, Pam!
